An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws with a round brilliant side stone in its own four claw head on each shoulder, all three raised over a band hand engraved in flowing wheat scroll and bordered by three separate rows of milgrain.

Almost every vintage engagement ring pairs one kind of ornament with one kind of stone layout, and the interesting decision here is that both are pushed hard at the same time. The three stones sit high in individual claw heads with clear air beneath them, so the trio reads as a single bright horizontal line the whole way across the finger. Below that line the metal does something completely different. The outer face of the shank carries a continuous engraved wheat scroll cut by hand, the two side walls of the band are engraved as well rather than left plain, and the whole thing is bordered by three rows of milgrain rather than the usual one, one along each outer edge and a third running as a raised bead line between the face and each wall. The result is that the shank has real texture and shadow while the stones stay clean and unobstructed above it. Because the side stones are round brilliants rather than pears or baguettes, the ring keeps a soft, period correct outline instead of the sharp geometry of a deco three stone.

Band details

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why three rows of milgrain instead of one
Two rows border the outer edges of the shank and a third runs between the engraved face and each side wall. It divides the surface so the eye reads the face and the walls as separate engraved panels rather than one wrapped surface.

How is this different from your other three stone rings
Our other round sided three stone sits on a plain polished band. This one carries full hand engraving on the face and both walls with triple milgrain, which makes it a vintage piece rather than a classic one.

Why round side stones rather than pears
Rounds keep the outline soft and period correct. Pears and trapezoids point outward and give a sharper, more art deco silhouette.

Will the engraving wear away
Slowly, and mainly on the palm side of the shank. We recut and sharpen it during servicing whenever you want it refreshed.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size. Larger changes interrupt the engraved scroll, so we prefer to remake the shank and re-engrave it.

How long does the ring take to make
Three separate claw heads plus engraving on three surfaces and three milgrain runs, all by hand, so allow twenty two to twenty six working days before dispatch.
