An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a band drawn as a fine round wire of constant thickness, with a small teardrop shaped opening pierced through the gallery beneath the stone.

The band on this ring is a true wire. It holds one diameter from the shoulders all the way round the palm, with no taper, no flare and no change of section anywhere, which is harder to make well than it sounds because any variation in a constant profile is instantly visible. Kept deliberately fine, it disappears against the finger and leaves the oval apparently unsupported. That is the entire strategy of the design, and it is why this ring photographs so much larger than its carat weight suggests. The eye has no reference to measure the stone against except a hairline of gold. Under the head the gallery carries the only decoration on the ring, a single small teardrop pierced through the metal on each side just below the claws. It is a detail borrowed from Edwardian work, where piercing the gallery was standard practice both to lighten the setting and to let light through, and here it also gives the underside of the ring a shape to catch the eye when the hand turns. Everything else is bare. No pave, no halo, no milgrain, no engraving.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Does a fine band make the diamond look bigger
Yes, and this is the clearest example of it in our range. With no taper and no width anywhere for the eye to measure against, the oval has nothing to be compared with and reads noticeably larger than the same stone on a wider shank.

Is a wire band strong enough for daily wear
In 14K or 18K gold, yes. In 925 silver we would recommend a slightly heavier gauge for someone who works with their hands, and we will thicken it on request at no extra cost.

What is the teardrop under the head
A small opening pierced through the gallery on each side. It lightens the setting, lets light into the pavilion and is a detail taken from Edwardian ring making.

Will a plain wire band bend out of round
Any fine band can if it is caught hard. We reshape and repolish free of charge for life, and in 18K gold the alloy holds its round well.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily and by several sizes, because there is nothing set into the shank.

How long does the ring take to make
The gallery is pierced by hand, so allow fourteen to eighteen working days before dispatch.
