An oval cut lab grown diamond is held by four claws positioned at the compass points, north, south, east and west, rather than at the usual diagonals. It is a small change with a visible effect. Claws on the long axis run along the length of the stone where they are least noticeable, and the two on the sides sit at the widest point where they hold most securely, so the oval outline stays completely uninterrupted when viewed from above. The band is a fine plain wire with nothing set into it.

Band details

The shank is a fine polished round wire with no stones and no engraving, keeping a consistent width the whole way around. It is easy to resize, comfortable against neighbouring fingers and unlikely to catch on clothing. The gallery beneath the oval is left open so light reaches the pavilion from below as well as above.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating, or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. White gold, rhodium finished, gives the cool bright look shown in the photographs and makes the diamond read a shade whiter. Yellow gold outlines the oval clearly against the skin. Rose gold gives the softest reading. Every metal is hallmarked and every carat weight is available in every metal.

Yes. A lab grown diamond is chemically, physically and optically identical to a mined diamond and is graded on the same scale by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost with every order.

What is a compass setting
The claws are placed at the four compass points rather than at the diagonals. On an elongated shape it keeps the outline clean from above and puts the side claws at the widest, strongest part of the stone.

Why do ovals look bigger than rounds
An oval spreads its weight along the finger rather than into depth, so for the same carat weight it presents a larger face up area and lengthens the finger.

Does a fine band make the stone look bigger
Yes, noticeably. With less metal beside the diamond there is nothing to give the eye a competing reference, so the same stone reads larger than it would on a wide band.

Can I wear a wedding band beside it
Yes, and this is one of the easiest settings for it. The straight plain shank lets any band sit flush on either side with no gap.
