Mixing metals in one ring is a deliberate technical choice, not just a decorative one. White metal around a diamond is optically invisible. It reflects no colour into the stone, so the claws and the halo disappear against the diamond and the eye reads only the stone. Yellow or rose gold, by contrast, reflects warmth into the pavilion of any stone it touches, which can add a faint tint to a very white diamond. Building the head in white and the shank in gold gives you both. The setting stays neutral so the oval keeps its E colour cleanly, and the band stays warm against the skin, which is what most people actually want to see on the hand. It also draws a hard visual line around the head. Because the white metal stops exactly where the yellow begins, the eye reads the setting as a discrete object and the diamond appears to sit higher and more distinctly than it would on a single tone ring. Beneath the girdle the concealed halo is set in the same white metal as the claws, so it stays invisible in profile until it catches light.

Band details

The shank is round in section, polished bright and left completely plain. The interior is comfort rounded. In the two tone version the shank is made in yellow or rose gold while the head and halo are made in white metal.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. The photographs show the two tone treatment, a white head on a yellow gold band. Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why is the head a different metal from the band
White metal reflects no colour into the diamond, so the stone keeps its true white. A warm gold shank keeps the ring looking warm on the hand. Two tone construction gives you both at once.

Can I have the whole ring in one metal instead
Yes, at no extra cost. Choose your metal at checkout and tell us you would like it single tone.

Will the two metals wear differently
They wear at similar rates at the same karat. White gold in our workshop is rhodium plated for brightness, and we replate free of charge whenever the ring comes in for service.

What is a hidden halo
A ring of small diamonds set around the outside of the basket below the girdle. It cannot be seen looking straight down at the ring and appears only when the hand turns.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily, because the shank carries no stones and the join between the two metals sits at the top of the shoulders, away from where a jeweller cuts.

How long does the ring take to make
Two tone construction means the head and shank are made separately and joined, so allow eighteen to twenty two working days before dispatch.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

The entire point of a white setting is to let the diamond show its true colour, which only pays off if the stone is genuinely white to begin with. Lab grown material lets us set an E colour VVS2 oval of two to five carats where mined goods of that grade would cost several times more, with a traceable origin and no mining.
