Oval Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring on a Twisted Pave and Polished Vine Band

An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a band built from two fine strands that wind around one another, one set with pave diamonds and one left as plain polished metal.

The whole design turns on a single decision, which is that only one of the two strands carries stones. A twisted band set with pave on both strands looks like rope and reads as a solid glittering tube from a metre away. Setting one strand and polishing the other keeps the twist legible. As the two cross and recross around the finger the diamond strand appears, disappears behind the metal one and reappears on the other side, so the band pulses light and shadow instead of shining evenly. That rhythm is what makes a thin shank look interesting without making it look busy, and it is also what keeps the eye moving back toward the oval at the top. Where the strands reach the head they separate and rise into four claws, so the setting grows out of the band rather than sitting on top of it. There is no gallery rail and no basket wall, which keeps the profile low and lets light through the pavilion of the oval from underneath.

Band details

Two fine strands wind around one another from the head to the back of the finger. One is pave set, the other polished bright. The inner surface is smoothed and comfort rounded so the twist is felt only on the outside.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs. In yellow or rose gold the contrast between the set strand and the plain one becomes much stronger.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why is only one strand set with diamonds
So the twist stays visible. Pave on both strands makes the band read as one solid glittering tube and the shape of the twist is lost.

Can this ring be made in two colours of gold
Yes, and it is one of our most requested changes on this design. A rose gold plain strand against a white gold pave strand shows the twist most clearly.

Does a twisted band sit flush with a wedding ring
Not perfectly flat, because the shank surface undulates. A shaped or twisted wedding band cut to match sits against it without a gap, and we make one to order.

Is a thin twisted band strong enough
Yes. The two strands are soldered where they cross, which makes the shank considerably stiffer than a single wire of the same total thickness.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size. Beyond that we remake the shank so the twist keeps its spacing and the pave stays evenly set.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order, the strands are wound and soldered by hand and the pave is set afterwards, so allow sixteen to twenty working days before dispatch.
