Oval Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring on a Twisted Milgrain Pave Band

An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a shank that twists as it runs from the head to the back of the finger, its upper face pave set with round diamonds and both edges finished in fine milgrain beading, with a small marquise accent set beside the claws on each shoulder.

The twist here is worked into a single ribbon rather than made from separate strands, and that changes what the pave does. As the ribbon rotates, the set face turns gradually away from you, so the row of diamonds appears to narrow, disappear round the back of the shank and then return. Instead of a flat line of light that reads the same from every angle, you get a row that pulses as the hand moves. The milgrain running along both edges of the ribbon is what keeps the twist legible. Without it the rotating surface would blur into the shadow of the metal, but a beaded line catches a highlight all the way round and traces the spiral clearly even in poor light. It is also the correct antique finish for pave of this size, because it hides the seam where the setting metal meets the shank. At the top of each shoulder, just before the claws, a single marquise sits with its long axis pointing into the head, which stops the spiral dead and hands the eye over to the centre stone.

Band details

The shank is a single ribbon that rotates as it travels from the head toward the back of the finger, pave set on the upper face and edged both sides with fine milgrain beading. The interior is smooth and comfort rounded.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

How is this different from a two strand twist
This is one ribbon that rotates, not two wires wound around each other. The pave stays on a single continuous face, which is why the row of stones appears to turn away and come back rather than crossing over itself.

What is milgrain and why is it here
A row of tiny beads worked along the edge with a knurling wheel. On a twisting shank it traces the spiral in light, which a plain polished edge would not, and it hides the seam between the setting metal and the band.

Why is there a marquise at each shoulder
To stop the spiral. Without it the pave would run straight into the claws and the eye would keep travelling. A pointed stone aimed at the centre hands attention over to the oval.

Will the pave stones fall out
Each is held by its own beads raised from the shank. We check and tighten every setting free of charge whenever the ring comes in for cleaning.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size. Beyond that the twist changes pitch and the pave spacing goes out, so we prefer to remake the shank.

How long does the ring take to make
The twist is formed, then set, then milgrained by hand, so allow eighteen to twenty two working days before dispatch.
