On a curved outline like an oval, the claw is the only place where metal touches the diamond, and how it touches decides how much of the stone you actually see. A conventional prong is a rounded tab pressed over the girdle, and on an oval it sits across the widest and most visible part of the curve. Splitting the tip into two fine points moves the contact to either side of that spot and leaves the curve between them uncovered, so the outline of the oval runs unbroken and the claws read as eight small bright dots rather than four blocks of metal. The technique is old and predates modern casting, which is why it carries a slightly antique feel even on a plain modern band. Everything else here is deliberately reduced. The band is a fine plain wire, the basket is open, and there is nothing else to look at.

Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond and is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.
