An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws on shoulders built as open scrollwork, the metal curling into S shapes with clear voids pierced through them, marquise diamonds set into the scrolls as leaves and a fine line of pavé running along the outer edge.

The distinguishing feature is the piercing. Rather than a solid shoulder with a pattern worked onto its surface, the metal here is cut right through, so each scroll encloses an actual opening and you can see the finger behind it. That changes the weight of the ring in two ways at once. It removes a great deal of metal, so a design this wide still sits light, and it gives the whole shoulder depth, because the marquise leaves set into the scrolls stand in front of open space rather than against a flat backing. The scrolls themselves run as an S from the shank up to the head, each one turning back on itself once, with a marquise seated where the curve is widest and a smaller round tucked into the tighter part of the turn. Along the outermost edge of each shoulder a single fine line of pavé follows the whole contour, which is what stops the openwork looking unfinished: it draws a bright continuous boundary around a shape that is otherwise full of holes.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What does pierced scrollwork mean

How is this different from your other scroll and vine rings
One uses a milgrain edged vine with plain gold tendrils, another fills its leaves edge to edge with pavé. This is the only one where the shoulders are pierced right through.

Is pierced openwork strong enough for daily wear
Yes in 14K or 18K gold, which we recommend here. The scrolls are closed curves rather than open ends, and a closed curve is considerably stiffer than a straight bar of the same thickness.

Is it harder to clean
Slightly, but less than a solid design with deep recesses, because the piercings go right through and rinse clear. Warm soapy water and a soft brush is enough.
