An oval cut lab grown diamond in six claws, with generously sized marquise and round brilliant diamonds alternating down both shoulders, each claw set on its own and separated by beaded metal, above a shank whose inner face is cut away in a decorative openwork scroll.

Two things separate this from an ordinary accent shank. The first is scale. The marquise stones are large enough to read individually at arm's length rather than dissolving into a general glitter, and they are set with their long axis running along the finger so they carry the line of the oval outward in both directions. The result is a ring that looks considerably wider across the hand than the centre stone alone would suggest. The second is what happens underneath. Turn the ring and the inner face of each shoulder is not solid metal but a pierced scroll, an openwork gallery cut right through so you can see light through the shank from the side. That piercing is traditional bench work and it does two useful things. It removes weight from a shank that is carrying large stones, so the ring does not feel heavy on the finger, and it puts light behind the accents so their pavilions stay bright instead of sitting against a wall of gold. The stones themselves are held by small beaded claws with polished metal between each one, which keeps the alternating rhythm of long and round legible all the way down.

Band details

The shank carries the alternating accents from the head down both shoulders and is pierced with an openwork scroll on the inner face beneath them. It runs plain and solid at the back of the finger, and the interior is comfort rounded.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs, where the accents read as one continuous line of light with the metal almost invisible between them.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is openwork on a shank
The inner face of the shoulders is pierced through in a decorative pattern rather than left solid. It lightens the ring, lets light behind the accent stones and is one of the details that separates hand finished work from a plain casting.

Why are the accent stones so large
So the ring reads wide across the finger. Large marquise accents set along the finger extend the line of the oval, which gives far more presence than the same carat weight spent on small pave.

Will the marquise points snag
No. Each point sits under a claw rather than standing exposed at the edge of the shank.

Does the openwork trap dirt
Less than closed settings, because it is open on both sides and rinses clear. We clean and check the ring free of charge for life.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size using the plain section at the back. Larger changes disturb the spacing of the accents and the scroll, so we prefer to remake the shank.

How long does the ring take to make
The openwork is pierced and finished by hand and every accent is claw set individually, so allow twenty to twenty four working days before dispatch.
