An oval cut lab grown diamond in four bare claws above a row of unusually large round accents, all the same size, French set so the metal is cut away beneath each one, ending halfway down in a clean squared step onto a plain slim band.

Two decisions give this ring its character. The first is that the accents are large and all identical. Most shoulder work either uses small pavé or graduates the stones down from the head, both of which make the shoulders defer to the centre. Here the accents are near the size of a small solitaire in their own right and they do not diminish at all, so the shoulders hold their own and the ring reads as a continuous run of substantial diamonds rather than a centre stone with decoration on either side. The second is the French setting. Behind each stone the metal is cut into a U so that the underside of every accent is open, which means light enters from beneath and the girdles are visible in profile rather than buried in a wall of gold. And where the row ends, it ends decisively: a clean squared step drops from the wide set shoulder to a slim plain band, with no taper and no apology. The head is left completely bare, no halo and no under bezel, so nothing competes with the accents.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is French setting
A setting in which the metal beneath each accent is cut away into a U shape, leaving the underside of the stone open so light reaches it from below.

Why are the accents so large
Because the design is meant to read as one continuous run of diamonds rather than a centre stone with small decoration beside it. Large uniform accents carry the eye outward instead of stopping at the head.

Why do the accents not graduate
Graduation makes shoulders taper visually toward the band. Keeping every accent the same size does the opposite, and holds the width of the shoulder all the way to the step.

What is the step in the band
Where the accent row ends, the wider set shoulder drops in a clean square edge to a slimmer plain band, rather than tapering gradually.

Do French set stones catch or loosen
No more than any bead set stone. The U cut removes metal from behind the stone, not from the beads that hold it, so security is unaffected.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The palm side is plain and slim, which is where a sizing cut is made, well away from the set section.
