An oval cut lab grown diamond in four bead tipped claws, with a scatter of marquise cut lab emeralds, marquise and round white diamonds and small green accents growing from each shoulder like a sprig of new leaves, on a plain polished band.

Green against white is the oldest colour pairing in botanical jewellery and it works here because the emeralds are used sparingly. There are only a few of them, all marquise cut, all set at different angles, and they sit among white marquise and round diamonds rather than in a row of their own. That mixture is what makes the sprig read as foliage instead of as a colour statement, because real leaves on a stem are not all the same shade or all the same size. The smallest green stones are set flush into the metal beside the larger emeralds and act as buds. The claws holding the centre stone are finished with small beads at their tips, a detail borrowed from antique work, and those beads pick up the same round highlight as the diamond buds so the head belongs to the same vocabulary as the shoulders. Below the sprigs the shank is left completely plain and polished, which gives the eye somewhere to rest and stops a colourful ring becoming a busy one.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Are the emeralds real emeralds
They are lab grown emeralds, chemically and optically the same beryl as mined emerald. Lab material also lets us select stones without the heavy inclusions that mined emerald almost always carries at this size.

Are emeralds hard enough to wear every day
Emerald sits at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, softer than diamond, and it does not like sharp knocks. Here the emeralds are small, set low among the metalwork and protected by the surrounding diamonds and claws, which is the right way to use the stone in a ring worn daily.

Why are the claws bead tipped
It is an antique detail. A small bead at the tip of each claw catches a round highlight, which echoes the round diamond buds in the shoulders and ties the head to the rest of the design.

Will the green fade
No. Emerald colour comes from chromium and vanadium in the crystal itself, not from treatment or coating, so it does not change with light or time.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size at the plain back. Larger changes risk the leaf settings, so we prefer to remake the shank.

How long does the ring take to make
Every leaf is set individually and the colour of the emeralds is matched by eye, so allow eighteen to twenty two working days before dispatch.
