An oval cut lab grown diamond in four slender claws on a plain polished band, with a concealed row of pave diamonds set around the underside of the head and a shank that crosses over itself where it meets the setting.

Face up this is as plain a solitaire as we make. There is no pave on the shank, no shoulder stones, nothing to read except the oval and a fine band. Turn the hand and the ring changes. A complete row of small round brilliants is set around the outside of the basket, sitting directly beneath the girdle of the centre stone, so the oval appears to float on a ring of light rather than on metal. That is the hidden halo, and its real purpose is optical rather than decorative. Because it sits below the girdle it never touches the outline of the centre stone, so the oval keeps its own crisp shape, but the reflected light from those small stones bounces up through the pavilion and makes the whole head look larger and brighter than a plain basket would. The second detail is at the base of the head, where the two ends of the shank do not simply meet the setting but pass over one another in a shallow crossover before running away as a single band. It gives the profile a soft twist and lifts the head just enough that a wedding band can tuck underneath without fouling the claws.

Band details

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a hidden halo
A ring of small diamonds set around the outside of the basket, below the girdle of the centre stone. It is invisible when you look straight down at the ring and shows only in profile.

Does a hidden halo make the diamond look bigger
It makes the head look larger and brighter without changing the outline of the centre stone, because the small stones sit under the girdle rather than around it. A visible halo enlarges the outline but blurs the shape of the oval. A hidden halo keeps the shape crisp.

Why does the shank cross over at the head
The crossover lifts the setting slightly and gives the profile a twist, and it opens a small gap beneath the head so a wedding band can sit close without pressing against the claws.

Will the hidden halo trap dirt
Any close set stone needs occasional cleaning. Warm water, a drop of washing up liquid and a soft brush from underneath is enough, and we clean and repolish the ring free of charge for life.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, comfortably, because the shank carries no stones. The hidden halo sits in the head and is unaffected.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order and the halo is set by hand, so allow sixteen to twenty working days before dispatch.
