An oval cut lab grown diamond held in a continuous rim of metal that wraps the entire girdle, set low into a broad flat band so the bezel and the shank read as one piece of worked metal rather than a setting mounted on a ring.

Two heavy elements meeting well is the whole problem this design has to solve. A full bezel is a solid rim. A wide flat band is a solid plane. Put them together carelessly and you get a lump. What makes it work here is that the bezel is set low and the shoulders of the band rise to meet it at exactly the height of the rim, so there is no step between the two and the eye reads a single continuous surface running from one side of the finger, up over the diamond, and down the other side. The rim itself is finished flush with the top plane of the band rather than standing proud of it. That flush junction is the difference between a modern bezel and a dated one. It also makes this the most practical ring in the range by a wide margin. There is nothing raised anywhere on it, no claws, no gallery, no edges standing above the surface, so nothing can catch, bend or wear through. The girdle of the stone is protected on every side. Band details

The shank is broad and flat topped, rising at the shoulders to meet the bezel rim at exactly its height so the two form one continuous surface. The edges are worked square and lightly softened, and the inner face is domed for comfort.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs, where the warm rim frames the white of the oval most strongly against the broad plane of the band.

Ring size

The ring is made to your finger size. Select your size at checkout. A wide band generally feels tighter than a narrow one at the same nominal size, so if you are between sizes we would take the larger. If you are unsure, we will send you a printable size guide before we begin work.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Is this the most durable setting you make
Yes. Nothing on the ring stands above the surface, the girdle is protected all the way round and there are no claws to bend or wear through. It is what we recommend to anyone who works with their hands.

How is it different from your slim bezel ring
That one sets the bezel on a fine tapered shank so the rim stands as a distinct object. Here the bezel is set flush into a wide flat band so the two read as one continuous piece of metal.

Does a bezel reduce sparkle
It reduces light entering from the sides, so a bezel set stone returns slightly less fire than a claw set one. What it gains is a hard clean outline that makes the oval read larger and more graphic.

Will it catch on clothing
No. There is nothing raised anywhere on the ring.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, though a wide band takes more work than a narrow one. The bezel is unaffected. We resize free of charge in the first year.

How long does the ring take to make
The rim is cut and burnished to the individual stone and the flush junction is worked by hand, so allow eighteen to twenty two working days before dispatch.
