An oval cut lab grown diamond in four claws over a concealed halo, on a shank set with marquise and round brilliant diamonds alternating in a single line, each held in its own claws with bright polished metal showing between them.

Most accent shanks run one stone shape in a continuous row. Alternating two shapes changes the rhythm completely. A marquise is long and pointed, a round is short and circular, so setting them one after another produces a repeating long short long short pattern that the eye follows around the finger the way it follows a row of beads on a string. The stones are also spaced rather than crowded. There is a small bar of polished metal between each one, and each stone sits in its own pair of claws rather than sharing beads with its neighbours. That spacing is what makes the pattern legible. Push the stones together and you get a glittering line with no shape to it. The marquise stones are set with their long axis running along the finger so they continue the direction of the oval above, and they grow slightly larger as they approach the head, which draws the eye inward to the centre stone. Beneath the girdle a hidden halo of small rounds circles the basket, invisible from above.

Band details

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why alternate two stone shapes
A long shape next to a round one creates a repeating rhythm the eye can follow. A single shape repeated reads as an undifferentiated line of sparkle.

Why are the accents spaced apart rather than set close
The polished metal between the stones is what makes the alternating pattern visible. Set them tight and the shapes merge into one another.

Are marquise accents fragile
The points are the vulnerable part of any marquise, so each one is set with its points tucked under claws rather than left exposed at the edge of the shank.

What is the hidden halo for
It reflects light up into the underside of the oval, which makes the centre stone read brighter and the head look larger without changing the outline of the diamond.

Can this ring be resized
Within about one size using the plain section at the back. Larger changes disturb the spacing of the accents, so we prefer to remake the shank.

How long does the ring take to make
Every accent is claw set individually rather than pave set, which is slower, so allow eighteen to twenty two working days before dispatch.
