An oval lab grown diamond in claws above a concealed halo, on a shank that spirals: a pave strand and a plain carved strand wind around each other from the setting down to the base of the finger, swelling and narrowing as they turn.

Because the decoration follows a spiral, this ring has no front. On a conventional band the pave sits along the top and the design has one correct viewing position, the one where the row of stones faces you; every other angle is a partial view of that. Winding the set strand around the shank removes the privileged position entirely. From directly above you see the pave crossing the band diagonally; from the side you see it wrapping away; rotate the hand and a different length of the strand comes into view while the previous one disappears behind the finger. Nothing is ever fully hidden and nothing is ever fully presented. The setting consequence is that the seats rotate progressively along the run, since the surface the stones sit on is turning continuously, and the setter has to follow that rotation stone by stone rather than working along a fixed line.

Band details

The shank is formed from two strands that wind around each other, one pave set and one left as carved polished metal. The strands swell and narrow as they turn, so the band changes width along its length rather than running parallel.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Yellow gold is shown in the photographs, where the plain strand stays warm and the set strand stays bright, which is what makes the spiral traceable by eye.
