An oval cut lab grown diamond in a four claw head over a hidden halo, on a shank pierced with scroll filigree, edged in milgrain and set with pave along the top. The oval is the most modern shape in engagement jewellery and filigree is one of the oldest decorative techniques still worked by hand. Putting them together gives a ring that looks entirely current from the front and entirely antique from the side. The scrolls are cut through both outer faces of the shank so light passes between them. Milgrain beading traces every edge. Pave runs along the top of the band toward the head, and a diamond set crossover sits under the basket where the shoulders meet. Free IGI certificate for the centre stone. Band details

Scroll filigree is pierced through both outer faces of the shank so the band is open rather than solid when seen from the side. Milgrain beading edges the scroll panels and follows the gallery outline. Round pave diamonds run along the upper surface of the band, and a diamond set crossover sits beneath the basket. The inner face of the band is smooth and comfort rounded.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the filigree a warm heirloom quality and makes the openwork read clearly against the skin. White gold and sterling silver sharpen the milgrain and look closest to genuine period pieces. Rose gold is the softest of the three.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. Because filigree, milgrain and pave run around most of the shank, please order your correct size where possible. Resizing is possible but the pattern has to be rebuilt at the join. Ask us for a free size guide if you are unsure.

Frequently asked questions

What is filigree?
Metal cut and pierced by hand so that light passes through the openings. Here it is worked into the sides of the shank as scroll curls, which is why the band looks lacy in profile but solid from the front.

What is milgrain?
A line of very small metal beads raised along an edge with a knurling wheel. It softens hard outlines and catches light along the rim, and it appears on almost every genuine Edwardian and Art Deco piece.

What is a hidden halo?
Small diamonds set into the basket beneath the centre stone, facing outward rather than upward. Invisible from above, but it lights the profile view, which is where the rest of this ring's detail lives.

Why is the oval so popular?
It spreads its weight lengthwise rather than downward, so it covers more finger than a round of the same carat weight, and the elongated outline lengthens the finger visually.

Will the pave stones fall out?
Each sits in its own raised bead of metal and every setting is checked before shipping. We also offer a lifetime prong and pave check, so you can send the ring back at any time for tightening.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut and carat weight.

Is this comfortable for daily wear?
Yes. The filigree is on the outer faces only and the inside of the band is smooth and rounded, so nothing sharp sits against the finger.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond is chemically and optically the same as a mined one, graded on the same scales by the same laboratories, at a fraction of the price.
