An oval cut lab grown diamond in a four claw head over a hidden halo, on a band worked with scroll engraving, milgrain edges and pave along the upper surface. The band is the reason to buy this ring. Seen straight on it is a narrow gold line and nothing more, which is exactly what an oval needs to look as large as possible. Tip the hand and the shank turns out to be covered in openwork scrolls with a beaded milgrain rim, a row of pave over the shoulders and a diamond set crossover under the head. Band details

Scroll patterns are worked through both outer faces of the shank so light passes between them, with milgrain beading running along each edge. Round pave diamonds sit along the top surface of the band toward the head, and a further row of pave forms a crossover beneath the basket. The inner face of the band is left smooth and comfort rounded.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, makes the engraved band read as a warm textured line against the skin. White gold and sterling silver throw the milgrain into sharper relief. Rose gold gives the softest, most antique effect of the three.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. Because engraving, milgrain and pave run around most of the shank, please order your correct size where possible. Resizing is possible but the pattern must be rebuilt at the join. Ask us for a free size guide if you are unsure.

What is scroll engraving?
Curling patterns cut and pierced into the metal by hand so the band is decorated rather than plain. Because the scrolls are open, light passes through them and the band looks lighter than a solid shank of the same width.

What is milgrain?
A line of very small metal beads raised along an edge with a knurling wheel. It softens the outlines and catches light along the rim, and it is one of the clearest markers of antique inspired design.

What is a hidden halo?
A row of small diamonds set into the basket beneath the centre stone, facing outward rather than upward. Invisible from above, but it lights the profile view where the rest of this ring's detail sits.

Why choose an oval?
It spreads its weight lengthwise rather than downward, so it covers more finger than a round of the same carat weight, and the elongated outline lengthens the finger visually.

Will the engraving wear away?
Not in normal wear. The scrolls are cut into the metal rather than applied to it, and the sharpest detail sits on the sides of the band rather than the underside that rubs.
