What is a marquise and round diamond band

It is a shank set with marquise cut diamonds and round brilliant diamonds in an alternating sequence rather than a single repeated shape. The marquise stones are usually set transversely, pointing across the finger, which creates a pointed navette silhouette between each round. The effect is more decorative and more textured than a plain pave band, and because the stones are individually prong set with metal visible between them, the band stays slim on the hand.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Are marquise accent stones durable enough for daily wear

Marquise diamonds have two pointed tips, and points are the most vulnerable part of any faceted stone. On this ring the tips are protected by the prongs that hold them, and the accents sit low against the shank rather than standing proud of it, so they are not exposed to knocks the way a raised centre stone is. Worn normally the band is perfectly durable. We would still suggest removing it for gym work, gardening and heavy lifting, which is sensible advice for any diamond ring.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

Why do oval diamonds look bigger than round diamonds of the same weight

An oval spreads its weight across a longer surface, so for the same carat weight it presents a larger face up area than a round brilliant, typically around ten percent more. It also elongates the finger visually. That is why oval is the most requested elongated shape for engagement rings.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Every piece is made to order, so nothing is pulled off a shelf. Production takes about 10 to 12 working days and shipping is 3 to 5 working days after that with tracked international courier. We accept returns and exchanges within 30 days of delivery on unworn pieces in original condition.
