Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity are the diamonds in this ring? Both the oval center stone and the hidden halo accents are E color and VVS2 clarity. E is in the colorless range, and VVS2 means inclusions are very difficult to see even under ten times magnification, so the stones are completely eye clean.

What is a hidden halo? A hidden halo is a ring of small diamonds set around the base of the center stone, facing outward rather than upward. The ring keeps a clean solitaire outline from above while gaining an extra line of light at the profile.

Hidden halo or a visible halo, which should I choose? A visible halo makes the centre stone look meaningfully larger from above. A hidden halo does not, but it keeps the true outline of the oval intact. Choose visible for apparent size, hidden if you want the stone read as its own shape.

What is a bow tie and does this stone have one? Elongated brilliant cuts can show a dark band across the middle where the wearer blocks light. It comes from cut proportions rather than quality, and we select oval stones with proportions that keep it minimal.
