A bezel that stays clean

The rim wraps the whole girdle of the oval in one continuous wall of metal, which protects the edge, keeps the profile low and stops the ring catching on anything. Crucially, no accent stone is set into the rim itself, so the outline of the centre diamond stays a single clean shape.

Clusters at the shoulders

Small marquises, angled outward like leaves, with rounds filling the spaces between them. They gather tightly against the bezel and stop, leaving the rest of the band plain. The effect is to widen the head of the ring without extending the decoration down the finger.

The oval cut

A brilliant cut stretched into an ellipse, carrying the fire of a round while covering more of the finger. Inside a bezel the metal rim exaggerates its length rather than interrupting it.

What laboratory grown means here

A laboratory grown diamond is a diamond. It is crystallised carbon with the same cubic structure, the same 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index of 2.42 and the same dispersion as a mined stone. Ours are grown by chemical vapour deposition and high pressure high temperature methods, then cut and polished by hand. This is not moissanite, not cubic zirconia and not a simulant. A gemmologist testing it will read diamond, because it is diamond.

Metals

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. This ring was photographed in yellow gold, but every metal is made to order and priced above. White gold is rhodium plated and will want replating every one to two years.

Every centre stone arrives IGI certified

The centre diamond is graded by IGI, the International Gemological Institute, and the certificate comes with the ring at no extra charge. It states the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade, the measurements and the girdle inscription, and confirms in writing that the stone is laboratory grown. Every accent is matched to the same E and VVS2 grade.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India, where most of the world's diamonds are cut and polished. The bezel is formed around the measured stone so the rim stays even the whole way round, and each shoulder accent is given its own seat at its own angle. Allow two to three weeks for making, plus shipping.

About the photographs

Some photographs show this ring with stacking bands or worn alongside other rings. Those pieces are separate and are not included. The ring box shown is our standard packaging and comes with every order.

Looking after it

Warm water, mild washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush, brushing under the bezel and into each cluster from below. Take it off for the gym, gardening and swimming.

Questions we are asked

What colour and clarity are the diamonds? The centre oval and every accent are E colour and VVS2 clarity, on all metals and all carat weights.

Does the carat weight include the accents? No. The 2, 3, 4 and 5 carat options refer to the centre oval. The clustered accents are in addition.

Is the certificate really free? Yes. The IGI report for the centre stone is included in the price on every variant.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller? The rim covers the extreme edge of the girdle, so slightly. In exchange the most vulnerable part of an oval is protected and the ring sits low enough to wear every day.

Will a wedding band sit flush? Close. The clusters rise a little where they meet the band, so a slightly shaped band sits tighter, and we will make one to match.

Can it be resized? Yes, at the back where the band is plain. One or two sizes either way is straightforward.
