Step 1
Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%A marquise cut lab grown emerald in a deep vivid green is set point to point along the finger in six slim claws, two of which wrap the tips to protect them. The band beneath is a fine polished wire with nothing set into it. There is no halo, no accent stone and no shaping, and that restraint is deliberate. Green is a strong colour, and against a plain metal band with nothing competing beside it the stone reads at full saturation. From a distance the ring is a single stroke of green on the hand.
The shank is a slim polished round wire, kept deliberately plain so that nothing draws attention away from the colour of the stone. It is the lightest band we make, easy to resize and comfortable in daily wear. The gallery under the emerald is left open so light passes through the pavilion and lifts the green from below.
Choose 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating, or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold gives the warm classic pairing shown in the photographs, the combination used in antique emerald jewellery for centuries. White gold and sterling silver read cooler and push the green towards blue. Rose gold gives an unusual soft contrast. Every metal is hallmarked and every carat weight is available in every metal.
This ring is made to order in your size. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure of your size, order in the size you usually wear and contact us, we will help you confirm it before the ring is cut.
We can add a hidden halo, set accent diamonds along the shoulders, set the emerald east west across the finger, or swap the centre for a sapphire, ruby or diamond. Send us your idea through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will send back a quote and a rendering before any metal is cut.
What is a lab grown emerald
It is a genuine emerald, beryl coloured by chromium or vanadium, grown in controlled conditions instead of being mined. It has the same chemistry, hardness and colour as a natural emerald, usually with fewer inclusions.
Does it come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost with every order.
How hard is an emerald compared with a diamond
Emerald sits at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale against 10 for diamond. It is a stone for daily wear but not for heavy manual work. Take the ring off before the gym or gardening.
How should I clean it
Warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Do not use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner on emerald, as heat and vibration can open fine surface reaching inclusions.
Are the marquise points fragile
The two tips are the thinnest part of any marquise and emerald is softer than diamond, so each tip sits under a prong that wraps over the point rather than beside it.
Can I wear a wedding band beside it
Yes. The shank is straight and plain, so a plain or pave band sits flush on either side with no gap.
How long does it take to make
Made to order rings usually leave our workshop within 10 to 14 working days. We confirm the date by email once your size is set.
A lab grown emerald is grown from the same elements as a mined emerald under controlled heat and pressure. It has the same hardness, refractive index and colour, and it can be produced with better clarity than most mined material of the same size. The difference is origin, traceability and price. For the same budget you can buy a larger, cleaner and more saturated stone, and you know exactly where it came from.
Mapple Gems is a jewellery workshop in Surat, India, the city where a large share of the world diamonds and coloured stones are cut and polished. We cut, set and finish every ring in our own workshop, which is why we can offer custom work at production prices. Every piece is inspected by hand before it is packed.
