A marquise cut lab grown diamond set north to south inside a navette shaped diamond halo, with milgrain beading throughout and pave running down both shoulders. The halo is the point of this design. Rather than rounding the stone off inside an oval or cushion halo, the accent diamonds follow the marquise outline exactly, coming to a point at the top and bottom. The result is one very large navette shape rather than a marquise sitting inside something else, and it makes a 2 carat centre read closer to 4. Small kite shaped accents sit where the halo meets each shoulder, and the shoulders themselves are pave set and edged in milgrain, tapering as they run down toward a plain base. Accent stones and band

A halo of round brilliant diamonds follows the pointed marquise outline of the centre stone, forming one continuous navette shape. Small kite shaped diamonds sit at each side where the halo meets the shoulders. Both shoulders are pave set with round diamonds and edged in milgrain beading, tapering toward a plain polished base.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, outlines the navette shape clearly against the skin and gives the ring an heirloom look. White gold and sterling silver make the halo merge with the centre so the whole head reads as one enormous stone. Rose gold gives the softest antique effect.

Frequently asked questions

What is a navette halo?
A halo cut to the same pointed outline as the marquise it surrounds, rather than a round or oval halo that softens the shape. Navette is simply the older word for the marquise outline, and it keeps the design sharp instead of rounding it off.

How much bigger does the halo make it look?
Because the halo continues the outline rather than framing it, most people read the whole head as one stone. A 2 carat centre in this setting looks closer to a 4 carat marquise from normal viewing distance.

Are the points of the marquise protected?
Yes. Each point sits inside the halo with its own claw, so the halo diamonds and the metal around them take knocks before the point does. This is one of the safer ways to set a marquise.

What is milgrain?
A row of very small metal beads worked along an edge with a knurling tool. It softens hard outlines and catches light along every rim, and it is one of the clearest markers of antique inspired jewellery.

What is the bow tie in a marquise?
A dark band across the middle of some marquise stones caused by light leaking through the pavilion. Good proportions minimise it, which is why we cut to Excellent proportions and symmetry.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut and carat weight.

Each stone sits in its own raised bead of metal and every setting is checked before shipping. We also offer a lifetime prong and pave check, so you can send it back at any time for tightening.

A lab grown diamond is chemically and optically the same as a mined one, graded on the same scales by the same laboratories, at a fraction of the price.
