Marquise Cut Lab Grown Diamond Solitaire Ring on a Fine Pave Shank

A marquise cut lab grown diamond set north to south in six claws, on a fine shank pave set with small round diamonds. Two of those claws are V shaped tips at the points of the stone and the other four sit along its curved sides.

The extra four are not there for security in the way most people assume. Two V tips already hold a marquise firmly against being pulled out. What they cannot prevent is rotation, because a long stone gripped only at its two ends can pivot fractionally in its seat over years of knocks, and once a marquise sits even slightly off axis on the finger the eye notices immediately. Adding claws along the sides removes that freedom entirely. It is the same reason a picture frame gets a fixing at the middle of each long edge and not only at the corners.

Center stone details

  • Shape: Marquise cut, elongated with a point at each end
  • Stone type: Lab grown diamond, IGI certified
  • Carat weight: 2, 3, 4 or 5 carat, selected at checkout
  • Color grade: E
  • Clarity grade: VVS2
  • Cut and polish: Excellent make, excellent luster
  • Setting: Six claws, two V shaped tips at the points and four along the sides, set north to south
  • Certification: IGI certificate of the center stone is included at no extra charge

Accent stone details

  • Round brilliant cut lab grown diamonds pave set along the shank
  • Bead set flush into the top surface so the band stays smooth to the touch
  • Kept small so they support the centre stone rather than compete with it
  • Matched to the center stone in color and clarity

Band details

The shank is fine and rounded, pave set along its upper length with the base left plain for resizing. Because a marquise already spans a lot of finger, keeping the band narrow stops the ring from looking heavy.

Metal options

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. White gold is shown here and makes all six claws disappear against the diamond, so the outline of the marquise is uninterrupted. Yellow and rose gold make the claws visible as small warm marks along the edge of the stone, which some people prefer because it shows how the ring is built.

Ring size

This ring is available in a full range of US sizes. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure of the size, contact us and we will help you measure at home before the ring is made.

Custom orders

We make every ring to order, which means the design can be adjusted. Ask us for two claws instead of six, an east to west orientation, a plain shank, a hidden halo, side stones or a matching wedding band shaped to sit against the point. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and a member of our team will reply with drawings and a quote.

Frequently asked questions

Why six claws on a marquise?
The two V tips hold the stone in place, and the four side claws stop it from rotating in its seat over years of wear. A long stone held only at its ends can pivot very slightly, and a marquise sitting off axis is immediately noticeable.

Do the V tips protect the points?
Yes, that is their purpose. The point of a marquise is the thinnest part of the stone and the tip covers it completely so any knock lands on metal.

Does a marquise look larger than other cuts?
Yes. Weight for weight it presents one of the largest visible surfaces of any shape, and its long outline makes the finger look slimmer and longer.

Why is the pave kept small?
So the band supports the centre stone instead of drawing attention away from it. Larger accents would shorten the apparent length of the marquise.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included with every order at no additional cost.

Can this ring be resized?
Yes. The base of the shank is left free of stones specifically so a jeweler can cut and adjust it.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you the same optical and physical properties as a mined stone at a far better price for the size and quality. Because the growth conditions are controlled, high color and high clarity stones like the E VVS2 used here are available in large carat weights that would be rare and costly in mined goods. It is also a traceable choice, with a known origin and no mining footprint.
