A marquise cut lab grown diamond is lifted on six claws above a band lined with micro pave. The marquise is the longest shape a cutter can produce from a given weight of rough, which means it covers more finger than any other cut at the same carat. On a shank this narrow, that length is the whole point.

The pave is deliberately fine. Larger accents would compete with the centre stone and shorten it visually. Kept small they read as a single bright thread running up to the claws, and the marquise stays the only real shape on the ring.

Band details

The shank is a very fine band carrying a single line of micro pave on its upper surface, left plain and smooth underneath. Because the band is narrow the marquise appears to span almost the full width of the finger, which is the effect this setting is built to produce.

Metal options

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold warms the long marquise and outlines each pave stone. Rose gold gives it a softer blush. White gold and sterling silver make the pave and the centre stone merge into one continuous line of light. Every metal is finished by hand in our workshop.

Why does a marquise look larger than its carat weight?
Because the shape spreads the weight across the longest possible surface. A marquise has a bigger face up area than any other cut at the same carat, so it looks noticeably larger on the hand.

Are the pointed tips fragile?
The tips are the most vulnerable part of any pointed shape. This setting uses V shaped claws that fold over both points and shield them, which makes the stone as durable in wear as a round.

Why six claws instead of four?
A marquise is long and narrow, so it needs support along its length as well as at the ends. Six claws spread that support evenly and keep the stone from rocking in its seat.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included with every order at no additional cost.

What wedding band works with a marquise?
A band with a shallow V or a contoured band nests under the lower point without leaving a gap. A straight band also works if you do not mind a small space. We can make either.

Which metal is best for daily wear?
14K and 18K gold are the most durable choices for a ring worn every day. 10K is harder still. Sterling silver is softer and suits gentler wear or a first ring.
