Step 1
Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%A marquise cut lab grown diamond set north to south, with a small tapering cluster of round diamonds against each shoulder, on a fine band left plain everywhere else. A marquise is the narrowest of the elongated shapes, which is exactly why it benefits from clusters at the sides. Left completely bare, a long narrow stone can look thin against the finger. Adding a small group of stones at each widest point pushes the outline outward at the belly, so the head reads as a broader diamond form rather than a single narrow blade. The clusters taper away quickly and the rest of the band is plain, so the ring gains width without gaining bulk. Free IGI certificate for the centre stone. Made to order in Surat in ten metals and four carat weights.
Small round brilliant lab grown diamonds are grouped against each shoulder at the widest part of the marquise, graduating in size as they move away from the centre. The rest of the band is fine plain polished metal with no stones set into it.
Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, separates the clusters from the centre so each group is distinct. White gold and sterling silver merge them into the outline of the marquise so the whole head reads as one broader shape. Rose gold is the softest.
Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. The band is plain past the clusters, so resizing is straightforward. Ask us for a free size guide if you are unsure.
We can remove the clusters for a plain marquise solitaire, extend them into full pave shoulders, set the marquise east to west, add a hidden halo, or change the shape to pear or oval. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it before you order.
Why put clusters on a marquise specifically?
Because a marquise is the narrowest of the long shapes. Widening it at the belly with a small group of stones stops it reading as thin, which is the one criticism people make of bare marquise solitaires.
How is this different from a pave band?
Pave runs continuously along the shoulders. Here the stones are grouped only at the widest part of the centre stone and the rest of the band is completely plain.
Are the points of the marquise protected?
Yes. A V shaped claw caps each point and takes any knock before the diamond does, which is essential on any pointed shape.
Does a marquise look larger than other shapes?
Yes, it has the greatest surface area per carat of any common diamond shape, so it covers more finger than a round of the same weight.
What is the bow tie in a marquise?
A dark band across the centre of some marquise stones where light escapes through the pavilion. Careful proportions minimise it, which is why we cut to Excellent proportions and symmetry.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut and carat weight.
Does it sit well with a wedding band?
Yes. The band is plain past the clusters, so a straight wedding band sits cleanly alongside without meeting raised settings.
A lab grown diamond is chemically and optically the same as a mined one, graded on the same scales by the same laboratories, at a fraction of the price. That is what makes a VVS2 E colour marquise at 4 or 5 carat achievable. It is grown rather than excavated, so there is no mining involved and the origin is never in question.
