Every ring is made to order and handcrafted by Mapple Gems in Surat, India, and every center stone ships with a free IGI certificate. Nothing is added around the stone. The marquise runs the length of the finger held by prongs at each point, and the band is left completely unadorned so the outline of the cut is the whole design.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity is the diamond in this ring? The marquise cut center stone is E color and VVS2 clarity. E is in the colorless range, and VVS2 means inclusions are very difficult to see even under ten times magnification, so the stone is completely eye clean.

Does a marquise look bigger than other cuts? Yes, more than any other shape. A marquise has the largest surface area per carat of the common cuts, so a marquise reads noticeably larger on the hand than a round of identical carat weight, and its length visually slims the finger.

Are the points of a marquise fragile? A marquise has two points rather than one, and both are protected by V shaped prongs that wrap the tip rather than sitting beside it. Worn normally the stone is as durable as any other cut, since a lab grown diamond has the same hardness as a mined one.

What is the bow tie effect? Elongated cuts can show a dark band across the centre where light is blocked by the wearer. It is a function of cut proportions, not quality. We select marquise stones with proportions that keep this minimal.
