Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity are the diamonds in this ring? The marquise centre stone and both tapered baguettes are E color and VVS2 clarity, so the three stones read as one continuous colourless line.

Why pair baguettes with a marquise? A marquise is long and pointed, and tapered baguettes continue that line outward rather than interrupting it. Round accents would introduce a curve at exactly the point where the eye wants the shape to keep travelling.

Does a marquise look bigger than other cuts? Yes, more than any other shape. A marquise has the largest surface area per carat of the common cuts, so it reads noticeably larger on the hand than a round of identical weight, and the baguettes extend that further.

Are the points of a marquise fragile? A marquise has two points, and both are protected here by V shaped prongs that wrap each tip rather than sitting beside it. Worn normally the stone is as durable as any other cut.
