A marquise cut lab grown diamond held in four claws on a plain slim band. Four is the minimum a marquise can safely take and it is chosen here for exactly that reason. A V claw sits over each point and a single claw grips each side at the widest part, which is the least metal that will hold the stone securely. Less metal crossing the surface means more of the marquise is visible face up, and on the longest of all the diamond shapes that matters more than on any other. The result is a noticeably more open, more minimal reading of the same shape than a six claw setting gives. E colour, VVS2 clarity, free IGI certificate. With only four claws and no accent stones, this is the most minimal setting in the collection, so the metal colour is very nearly the whole design alongside the stone. White gold lets the marquise read at its longest, yellow and rose gold mark the four grip points clearly. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and better protects the points.

Frequently asked questions

Is four claws enough for a marquise?
Yes, when the two at the ends are V claws that wrap the points rather than sitting on top of them. Four is the minimum, which is precisely why it shows the most stone. If you prefer additional security we can build the same design with six.

Why does a marquise look so much bigger than its carat weight?
It is the most elongated of the brilliant cuts, spreading its weight across a long narrow surface. A marquise presents more face up area than any other shape of the same weight and the length visually slims the finger.

What is the bow tie in a marquise?
A faint dark band across the centre, caused by pavilion facets shadowing each other. Good proportioning minimises it, which is why we only set marquise stones with excellent cut and symmetry grades.

Is a plain solitaire easy to pair with a wedding band?
It is the easiest of all, though a marquise sits long on the finger, so many customers choose a band with a slight curve to sit against the widest point.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.

How long does it take to make?
