A large round brilliant lab grown diamond held in six long claws on a plain slim band, with no halo, no pave and nothing else on the ring at all.

This is the classic Tiffany style head, and it has survived unchanged for more than a century for two reasons. The first is mechanical. Six claws on a round stone divide the girdle into six short unsupported arcs instead of four long ones, which is the correct way to hold a large brilliant, and the claws rise from a knife edge basket that keeps metal away from the pavilion so light can enter from below. The second is proportional. Six slim claws break the outline into six small marks rather than four larger ones, and the eye reads a broken outline as more circular than an interrupted one. The band is left plain and slim so nothing competes, and the head is raised just enough to clear a wedding band without lifting the stone so high that it catches. Nothing here is fashionable, which is the point.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and optical behaviour as a mined diamond and is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why is the head raised
So light reaches the pavilion from below and so a wedding band sits against the shank without touching the stone.

Are six claws necessary
On a large round stone they are the safer choice. On a smaller stone four claws show more of the diamond and are perfectly secure.

Will a raised setting catch on clothing
It stands higher than a low setting, which is the trade for the extra light. We keep the claws tapered and burnished so there is nothing sharp to snag.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily. The band carries no stones.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Allow twelve to sixteen working days before dispatch.
