The two pear cuts on this ring are generous. Each one is wide enough to fill the whole shoulder, and they sit high, with the tops of all three stones level. The shoulders rise into a cathedral arc to carry them, and behind the head that arc becomes a squared open gallery you can see straight through.

Three stones set at the same height across a wide head is the most traditional way to build this style, and it is why the ring looks larger on the hand than the carat weight alone suggests.

How it compares

Our low set pear three stone keeps everything close to the finger with a slim plain shank and smaller pears. This one uses larger side stones and lifts the whole head on a cathedral arc, so it sits noticeably taller and covers more of the finger. Choose the low version for stacking, this one for presence.

Wearing and stacking

The cathedral rise leaves a gap under the head, so a straight wedding band can tuck in beneath the side stones. The head does sit tall, which is worth knowing if you catch rings on gloves.

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat. The two pears are matched as a pair before setting, and the cathedral arms are filed to identical height so all three stones read as one level line from the side. Every ring is made after you order, usually within 10 to 14 working days.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush up into the open gallery from underneath, where a raised head collects most. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Why set the pears so high
To keep the tops of all three stones level. With a large pear next to a deep emerald cut, a low setting would leave the sides sitting below the centre.
