Band details

The shank is flat across its top surface and even in width, engraved along its full length and finished with milgrain beading at both edges. The outer corners are lightly softened so the band does not feel sharp, and the inside is rounded and smooth. Why is the band flat rather than rounded?
Because engraving needs a constant plane. On a curved surface the graver angle changes as it crosses the width and the pattern shallows toward the edges. A flat top keeps the cuts even all the way across.

Is a flat band comfortable?
