Emerald Cut Moissanite Braided Vine Engagement Ring with Marquise and Round Accents

An emerald cut moissanite raised on four prongs above a shank that braids itself into an open lattice as it rises, with a marquise cut accent and two small rounds set into the weave on each shoulder. The braid is deliberately open rather than solid, so light passes straight through the sides of the ring and the whole setting stays light on the hand despite its width at the top.

Why this ring works

Most nature inspired settings are decorative only. This one is structural. The two strands of the braid cross beneath the head and act as a gallery wire, bracing the centre stone from both sides, which is exactly what a long emerald cut needs at four and five carat. The marquise accents sit where the strands separate, so each one appears to grow out of the weave rather than being set on top of it. Side stones and band

Each shoulder carries one marquise cut and two round cut colorless moissanite accents, prong set into the openings of the braid. The shank divides into two strands that cross over one another beneath the head and rejoin toward the back of the ring. Combined width at the shoulders is approximately two millimetres, narrowing to a plain rounded band at the back. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. White gold, as photographed, gives a cool sculptural look where the braid reads as line rather than ornament. Yellow gold makes the vine motif far more literal and warm. Rose gold sits between the two. White gold is rhodium finished.

Care

The open lattice is the easiest part of this ring to keep clean, but the small accents in the weave still collect lotion. Clean every few weeks with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, working the bristles through the openings from both sides. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions people ask

Is an open braided shank strong enough? Yes. Two crossing strands of solid gold are stiffer than a single strand of the same total metal, in the same way a truss is stronger than a solid bar of equal weight. The braid here is also joined where the strands cross, not merely overlapped.

Can this ring be worn with a wedding band? A straight band will meet the ring at the points where the braid touches the finger and leave small gaps between. Many people pair this design with a curved or twisted band instead.

Will the accents match the centre stone? Yes. All accents are colorless moissanite matched to the centre stone so the whiteness reads as one across the whole ring.

Which metal should I choose? For maximum whiteness choose white gold or sterling silver. For a warmer, more botanical look choose yellow or rose gold. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best.
