An emerald cut moissanite in four claws on a band that alternates marquise and round accents, each one sitting in its own full bezel. Nothing is bead set. Every accent is completely surrounded by a rim of metal, and the rims touch each other so the shoulders read as a chain of linked shapes rather than a row of stones on a plain shank.

Marquise, round, marquise, round, repeating down both sides and finishing about two thirds of the way round. The change of shape at every step gives the band a rhythm you notice at arm length, and the bezels give it an antique quality without any milgrain being used at all.

We list each design separately. Our marquise cluster ring groups its accents into a tight bunch beside the centre stone and claw sets them. Our vine ring runs marquise stones along a split shank. Our milgrain rings get their antique look from beaded edges rather than from the settings themselves. This ring is the only one in the range where every single accent is fully bezelled and the shapes alternate. Bezels also make it the most practical of the group, because there are no claw tips to catch on clothing.

Metals and sizes

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. All gold is solid, never plated and never filled. White gold is rhodium finished. Yellow gold is shown here and suits the design particularly well, because the bezel rims become part of the pattern rather than disappearing against the stones. Centre stone sizes run from 2 carat to 5 carat.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India. Every ring is made by our own team after you order. Bezelling a marquise is harder than bezelling a round, because the rim has to be closed evenly around two sharp points without pinching them, so this design goes to our senior setters. If you would prefer all rounds, or all marquise, tell us in the order notes before we begin.

Care

Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and wears well every day. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Bezel settings hold a little soap along the inside of each rim, so rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Bezels need less checking than claws, but an annual look over is still sensible.

Resizing

The back of the band is plain, so this ring resizes by one to two sizes without touching the bezels. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure of the finger size and we will help you measure.

Questions people ask

Is the centre stone a diamond? No. Every stone in this ring is moissanite, a gemstone in its own right, and we never describe it as a diamond.

Are bezels more secure than claws? For small accents, yes. A bezel wraps the whole girdle of the stone and there is nothing standing proud to be knocked. It is the setting we recommend for anyone who works with their hands.

Does a bezel make a stone look smaller? Slightly, because the rim covers the outer edge. In exchange the stone is better protected and the outline is cleaner.

Can I wear a wedding band with it? A straight band meets the plain back neatly. At the front the bezels stand a little proud, so a contoured band sits closer if you want the two to touch.

Does the price change with carat size? Yes. The 2 carat is the base price and each larger size adds a small amount. The exact price appears when you select a combination.
