Emerald Cut Moissanite Alternating Marquise and Round Eternity Engagement Ring

An emerald cut moissanite on a band set with marquise and round brilliant accents in strict alternation, running almost the full circumference of the shank. Each marquise lies lengthwise along the band and each round sits between two of them, so the pattern reads as a repeating chain of pointed ovals and dots rather than a row of matched stones. Fine milgrain edges the settings between the accents.

Why this ring works

Alternating two shapes solves a problem that plain eternity bands have: a row of identical stones has no rhythm, so the eye slides along it without stopping. Marquise, round, marquise, round gives the band a beat. It also lets a much larger proportion of the shank be covered in stone without the ring looking like a solid strip of light, because the narrow waists between each marquise let metal show through. Against a step cut centre stone the effect is deliberately antique, closer to an Edwardian eternity band than a modern pave shank.

Setting and band

Four claw prongs hold the corners of the emerald cut above an open gallery. Marquise cut and round brilliant moissanite accents alternate along the shank, each marquise set lengthwise in fine claws and each round set between two marquise, with milgrain beading edging the metal between them. The pattern runs almost the full circumference, leaving a short plain span at the base. Band width is approximately two millimetres. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Metal options

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. White gold, as photographed, gives the most classical result, with the alternating stones reading as one continuous antique chain. Yellow and rose gold outline each accent in warm metal and make the marquise and round shapes far more distinct. White gold is rhodium finished.

Every ring is made to order in your size. Sizes run from 3 to 13, including half sizes. Because the pattern runs nearly the full circumference, order the correct size rather than planning to resize later. Contact us if you are unsure and we will help before production starts.

Care

This band carries more accent settings than almost anything else in the collection, and every claw and milgrain edge collects soap film. Clean every two to three weeks with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, working around the ring in both directions so you reach both sides of each marquise. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions people ask

Why alternate two shapes? It gives the band rhythm. Identical stones in a row read as one object; alternating shapes read as a repeating pattern, which is far more interesting at close range.

Is this a true eternity band? No. The pattern stops short of the base, which keeps the underside comfortable and leaves plain metal for a jeweller to work with. A full eternity cannot be resized at all.

Do marquise accents catch on fabric? The points are set low and protected by their claws. It behaves much like any claw set band in daily wear.

Which metal should I choose? White gold or sterling silver for a seamless antique chain effect. Yellow or rose gold to make each shape read separately. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best.
