An emerald cut lab grown diamond is held in four corner claws above a band that does not behave like a band. The shank splits, crosses over itself and grows small leaves along its length, with a round diamond set where the vine turns on each side. Straight geometry sits on top of something deliberately irregular.

The contrast is the whole point, and it works because of how differently the two halves handle light. A step cut returns light in flat parallel plates, calm and architectural. A twisting vine has no flat surface at all, so it never returns a plate of light, only a moving highlight that follows the curve as the hand turns. Put them together and the stone reads as still while the metal around it reads as in motion. It also solves a problem plain shanks have with rectangular stones: a straight band draws a hard horizontal line across the finger that competes with the hard horizontal edge of the diamond. A vine has no straight line to compete with, so the outline of the stone stays the only geometry in the ring.

Band details

The shank is worked as a single continuous piece rather than assembled from halves, so the vine passes over and under itself without a visible join. Small leaves are carved along the upper curve and left with a matte face against the polished stem, which is what makes them read as leaves rather than as bumps.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. Rose gold, close to the tone in the photographs, suits this design particularly well because the copper in the alloy warms the recesses of the carving and increases the contrast between stem and leaf.

Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Does the ring come with a certificate

Is a vine band comfortable to wear
Yes. The inner surface is finished smooth and round. All the texture is on the outside where it can be seen and none of it is against the finger.

Can a vine band be resized
Within a modest range. The pattern has to be re-cut at the join, which is careful work, so we recommend confirming your size before we begin.

Does it pair with a wedding band
An irregular shank does not sit flush with a straight band. We recommend a contoured band shaped to the vine, which we can make to match.

Will the carving wear away
Not in ordinary wear. The leaves are cut deep enough to survive decades of polishing, and we re-finish them free of charge whenever the ring comes in for cleaning.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Because the shank is hand finished, production usually takes twelve to sixteen working days before dispatch.
