An emerald cut lab grown diamond in four claws over a secret halo of pave diamonds, on a plain rounded band with nothing set into it.

Looked at from above this ring is as simple as jewellery gets. One rectangle, four claws, a smooth band. The whole design happens in the half millimetre beneath the table. There a narrow collar of small round diamonds is pave set around the girdle of the centre stone, running the full way around, so that from the side and from any angle other than straight down there is a fine bright line under the emerald cut. Jewellers call it a secret or hidden halo, and the reason it exists is that a step cut has no fire of its own to speak of. The halo puts a little light back under the stone without putting an outline around it.

The band is deliberately plain and slightly deeper than it is wide, which is where the strength comes from on a ring that has to carry up to five carats on a slim shank. The head sits high enough that a wedding band slides in flush against the shank with no gap under the stone, which is the practical reason many people choose a hidden halo over a bare basket.

Band details

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a secret halo
Another name for a hidden halo. Small pave diamonds are set around the girdle of the centre stone but below its table, so the halo is invisible when you look straight down and visible from every other direction.

Does a hidden halo make the stone look bigger
Not from directly above, which is the point. It adds light and lifts the head rather than widening the outline, so the emerald cut keeps its sharp rectangle.

Will a wedding band sit flush against this ring
Yes. The halo raises the head enough that a straight band meets the shank with no gap.

Is a slim plain band strong enough for a five carat stone
Yes. The shank is made deeper than it is wide, so it resists bending where a flat band of the same visual width would not.

Do emerald cuts show inclusions more than other shapes
Yes. The open step facets hide far less than a brilliant does, which is why we use VVS2 clarity for the centre stone.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily. The band is plain and unset all the way around.

How is this different from your other hidden halo emerald cut rings
Others add a crossover gallery, a scalloped pave band or a cathedral shoulder. This is the plainest of them, a bare polished shank with the halo as the only accent.
