Emerald Cut Lab Grown Diamond Solitaire Ring with Corner Claws on a Fine Polished Wire Band

An emerald cut lab grown diamond stands alone on a fine polished wire band, held by four claws that grip the bevelled corners of the stone rather than its long flat sides. Nothing else is added. At this size the cut carries the ring by itself.

Those bevelled corners are the reason the emerald cut exists at all. The style was developed for cutting emeralds, a stone that cleaves easily and chips at a sharp ninety degree angle, so the cutters removed each corner with a small extra facet. Diamond inherited the geometry along with the name, and the corners turned out to be exactly where a setter wants to work. A claw placed on a flat side would have to reach across the table and interrupt the long parallel facets that give a step cut its clean architecture. A claw on the corner sits on a surface already angled toward it, grips two planes at once, and stays entirely outside the open view down into the stone. That is why every well made emerald cut ring is held at the corners and why the top of this one is completely uninterrupted.

Band details

The shank is a fine polished wire of even width that runs straight into the setting without shoulders or a gallery rail. Keeping the band narrow does something specific for a rectangular stone: the narrower the shank the wider the stone appears, because the eye judges the width of the diamond against the metal beside it.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. The photographs show white gold, which is the traditional choice for a step cut because a neutral metal adds no colour to the open table.

Ring size

The ring is made to your finger size. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure, we will send you a printable size guide before we begin work, and we adjust the shank thickness so the proportions hold at any size in our range.

Custom orders

We can change the carat weight, the length to width ratio of the stone, the claw style or the width of the band. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and our workshop will prepare a quotation and a rendering before any metal is cut.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

Why are the claws on the corners
Because the corners are the only part of an emerald cut where metal can grip two angled surfaces without crossing the table. It is both the strongest hold and the least visible one.

Does an emerald cut need higher clarity
Yes. The large open table shows the interior of the stone plainly, so we use VVS2 here rather than a lower grade that a brilliant cut would disguise.

Is a thin band strong enough
For two and three carat stones sterling silver is fine. For four and five carat weights we recommend 14K or 18K gold, and we thicken the shank slightly at the join.

Will a wedding band sit flush
Yes. The shank is straight and the setting sits low, so a plain band meets it without a gap.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days before dispatch.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you a larger stone and a higher colour and clarity grade for the same budget, with a traceable origin and no mining. For an emerald cut, where clarity is visible rather than hidden, that is the difference between a stone that looks clean and one that only grades clean.
