An emerald cut lab grown diamond held in a deep solid bezel with a closed back, carried on a fine round band that meets it at a single point on each side.

The contrast between the two halves of this ring is the design. The bezel is substantial, a tall unbroken wall of metal following the eight sides of the emerald cut and closed underneath rather than cut away into a gallery, so from the side it reads as a solid block. The band is the opposite, a fine round wire that stays the same slim section the whole way round and joins the bezel at one narrow point on each side, so the head appears to float above the finger rather than being carried up on shoulders.

A closed back bezel is the most protective way to set any stone. The girdle is shielded all the way around, the corners of the emerald cut, which are its weakest points, are completely covered, and nothing stands proud to catch on gloves or fabric. It also gives the stone a solid metal ground behind it, which on a step cut deepens the contrast between the bright table and the dark of the pavilion rather than washing it out with light from below.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a closed back bezel
The metal wall around the stone continues underneath it rather than being cut away into an open gallery, so the pavilion sits against solid metal.

Does a closed back make the stone look darker
It changes the look rather than dulling it. Light enters through the table and returns from the facets instead of passing through from below, which gives a step cut more contrast between its bright and dark planes.

Is a bezel more secure than claws
Yes. Nothing stands proud to be bent or snapped, and the corners of the emerald cut are fully protected.

Will such a fine band be strong enough
Yes. The bezel itself is heavy and rigid, and the band is thickened slightly where it meets it. The fine section is only at the back of the finger where no load sits.

Do emerald cuts show inclusions more than other shapes
Yes. The open step facets hide far less than a brilliant does, which is why we use VVS2 clarity for the centre stone.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily. The band is plain and unset all the way around.

How is this different from your other bezel emerald cut rings
One uses an open split gallery under the bezel, another sets the bezel into a wide flat band. This is the only one with a deep closed back bezel on a fine wire band.
