An emerald cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a slim band whose shoulders carry a line of pave diamonds that graduates smaller as it travels away from the head, edged on both sides with milgrain.

Graduated pave is a different idea from the even pave most rings use. Here the stones nearest the centre are the largest and each one after it is fractionally smaller, so the line narrows as it moves toward the back of the finger and then stops, leaving the rest of the shank plain. The effect is that the shoulders appear to taper into the band rather than ending abruptly, and the eye is carried up toward the centre stone rather than around the ring. It is a device taken from Edwardian jewellery, and so is the milgrain that borders the pave on both sides, a fine row of raised beads that frames the line of diamonds and keeps the edge of the metal soft.

Under the head the two arms of the shank cross before rising into the claws, which anchors the setting at two points on each side and lets it sit low. A single accent diamond is set into the crossing on each side, visible only from the side of the ring. Nothing else interrupts the emerald cut, which sits in four plain claws with its long axis running up the finger.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is graduated pave
A run of pave where each stone is slightly smaller than the one before it, so the line narrows as it travels away from the centre stone. It makes the shoulders taper visually into the band.

What is milgrain
A border of tiny raised beads worked into the metal with a knurling wheel. Here it edges both sides of each pave line.

Are there diamonds hidden in the setting
Yes. One accent is set into the crossing of the gallery on each side, visible from the side of the ring rather than from above.

Do emerald cuts show inclusions more than other shapes
Yes. The open step facets hide far less than a brilliant does, which is why we use VVS2 clarity for the centre stone.

Will a wedding band sit flush
Yes. The head sits low on a straight shank and a plain band meets it cleanly.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, using the plain section at the back of the shank. Free within the first year.

How is this different from your other pave emerald cut rings
Others run even sized pave three quarters of the way around, or a full micro pave eternity. This is the only one where the pave graduates and is framed with milgrain on both edges.
