A single emerald cut lab grown diamond on a slim band, with a laurel leaf pattern cut into each shoulder by hand. There are no accent stones anywhere on this ring. All of its decoration comes from the metal itself.

Hand engraving is done with a graver, a small chisel pushed through the surface of the metal to lift a curl of gold away. Each leaf is cut in a few strokes and the tiny facets left behind by the tool are what make the pattern sparkle when the ring moves. It is completely different from a cast pattern, which is why engraved rings look alive in a way moulded ones do not.

The leaves run from just below the setting down the visible part of each shoulder, then stop, leaving the back of the band smooth and comfortable. Because they are cut into a flat surface, nothing is raised and nothing catches.

The centre stone is claw set at its four corners with slim tapered claws, and the head is kept low so the ring sits close against the finger.

Ring size

Ring size is fully customisable. Choose your size at checkout or write to us with the size you need, including quarter sizes, half sizes and sizes outside the standard range. Because the back of the band is plain, this design is easy to resize later without disturbing the engraving. If you are unsure, we will help you measure at home.

Every ring is made to order and engraved by hand, so the pattern can be changed. Ask for a different centre carat weight, a different colour or clarity grade, a coloured centre stone such as emerald or sapphire, a different engraved motif, a wider band, or a message engraved inside the shank. Frequently asked questions

Is the centre stone a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Is a certificate included?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost and states carat weight, colour, clarity, measurements and laboratory grown origin.

How is this different from your other nature inspired emerald cut rings?
Our vine and leaf rings build their leaves from marquise diamonds or carved metal petals. This ring has no accent stones at all. The leaves are engraved into the surface of the band, which makes it the quietest and most understated of our botanical designs.

Will hand engraving wear away?
The cuts are shallow but the pattern is in solid metal, so it fades only very slowly with daily wear. After many years an engraver can recut it, and we are happy to advise if that is ever needed.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Yes. The setting is low and the band is straight, so a plain wedding band sits neatly against this ring on both sides.

Which carat weight suits this ring?
All four are made for it. With no accent diamonds anywhere, the centre stone carries the whole design, so larger weights make a particularly strong contrast against the delicate engraving.

Is an emerald cut suitable for daily wear?
Yes. Its corners are cut at an angle rather than left as sharp points, and the four claws sit directly over those corners.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush lightly along the engraved lines so dust does not settle in the cuts, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Each ring is made and engraved to order, so please allow our standard making time from the day your metal and size are confirmed. We will confirm the exact schedule when you order.
