The reasoning is simple. An emerald cut is a rectangle, so a setting that follows two straight lines suits it far better than claws that interrupt the outline at four points. With the ends open, the stone can still be seen edge to edge, and the two gold walls sit flush with the girdle so nothing sticks out at all.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. It is the same carbon crystal with the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical properties as a mined diamond. Only its origin is different.

Is a certificate included?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost and states carat weight, colour, clarity, measurements and laboratory grown origin.

How is this different from your other bezel set emerald cut rings?
This is a half bezel, not a full one. Metal runs along the two long sides only and both ends of the stone stay open, so more of the diamond is visible while it stays just as snag free. It also sits on a completely plain band with no accents anywhere.

Does a bezel make the diamond look smaller?
A full bezel can, because metal covers the edge all the way round. A half bezel leaves the ends open, so the stone reads at close to its true size while still gaining the protection of a bezel.

Is this ring good for everyday wear?
It is one of the best options we make for it. There are no prongs to loosen or catch, the setting sits low, and the corners of the stone are shielded by the gold walls.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Yes. The band is plain and the setting is low, so straight wedding bands sit perfectly against it. Many people wear one on each side of this ring.

Which carat weight suits this setting?
All four are made for it. Because the band is very slim and the bezel is minimal, larger stones look especially bold here, and the ring still stays comfortable.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush around the two open ends where dust can gather. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Bezel settings are among the easiest to keep clean.
