Emerald Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring with Double Ball Prongs and Hidden Halo

This ring holds an emerald cut lab grown diamond with eight prongs rather than four. At each corner of the stone a pair of small ball tipped claws sits side by side, and beneath the stone a hidden halo of pave diamonds runs around the setting, outlined with milgrain.

Double prongs are an old jewellery detail with two real advantages. They spread the pressure across a wider part of each corner, which matters on a step cut where the corners are the working edges, and the rounded ball tips leave nothing sharp to catch. Visually they give the setting a beaded, slightly antique look instead of the plain modern claw.

The hidden halo is set on the outside wall of the head, so from above it stays out of sight and the long table of the emerald cut is left completely clear. From the side it appears as a bright band of small diamonds with a milgrain edge above and below it, which is where the vintage character of this ring really shows.

The band is deliberately slender and carries a fine row of pave diamonds along the top on both sides. It keeps the ring light on the finger and lets the centre stone read as large as possible.

Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. It is the same carbon crystal with the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical properties as a mined diamond. Only its origin is different.

Is a certificate included?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost and states carat weight, colour, clarity, measurements and laboratory grown origin.

How is this different from your other hidden halo emerald cut rings?
The prongs. This is the only one of our emerald cut hidden halo rings that uses paired ball tipped claws at every corner, eight in total, together with milgrain framing the halo. Our other hidden halo designs use four plain claws and no milgrain.

Are double prongs more secure?
They spread the holding pressure over more of each corner, so any single knock is less likely to move the stone. They also give a second point of contact if one prong is ever damaged.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Yes. The band is slim and the head sits above it, so a straight wedding band meets this ring cleanly on both sides.

Which carat weight suits this setting?
All four are made for it. The slim band and small ball prongs keep the metal quiet, so larger stones look particularly impressive here.

Is an emerald cut good for daily wear?
Yes. Its corners are cut at an angle rather than left as points, and here two claws protect each of those corners rather than one.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush around the hidden halo and behind the prongs, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

How long does it take to make?
