An emerald cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a band carved with a leaf and vine pattern, with small diamonds flush set into the carving so they sit level with the surface of the metal.

The band is carved rather than cast smooth. A vine runs the whole way around the shank with leaves curling off it, cut back deep enough that the pattern has real relief and the recessed ground sits in shadow behind the raised leaves. Into that pattern, small round diamonds are flush set, which means each one is dropped into a hole cut for it and the metal around it is burnished over the edge so the top of the stone finishes level with the surface of the ring. There is no claw, no bead, nothing standing above the metal. They read as points of light let into the carving, and they are the reason the vine glitters as the hand moves rather than staying flat gold.

Flush setting is also the most durable way to set small stones. Nothing stands proud to be knocked, which matters on a carved band that will be handled more than a plain one. Above all of it the emerald cut sits in four plain claws on a low straight collar, with nothing set around it, so the busiest part of the ring is below the stone and not beside it.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is flush setting
Also called gypsy setting. Each small stone is dropped into a hole cut for it and the metal around it is burnished over the edge, so the top of the diamond finishes level with the surface of the ring. Nothing stands above the metal.

Is flush setting secure
It is the most secure way to set a small stone. There are no claws or beads to catch, bend or wear away, and the stone is held by the metal all the way around.

Will the carving collect dirt
Some will settle into the recesses, as in any textured ring. A soft brush and warm soapy water clears it, and we clean and refresh the carving free of charge for life.

Do emerald cuts show inclusions more than other shapes
Yes. The open step facets hide far less than a brilliant does, which is why we use VVS2 clarity for the centre stone.

Will a wedding band sit flush
Yes. The head sits low on a straight shank, so a plain or carved band meets it cleanly.

Can this ring be resized
Within a modest range. Sizing means recutting the vine at the join, which we do as part of our service.

How is this different from your other engraved emerald cut rings
The other engraved designs carry no stones in the band at all. This is the only one where diamonds are flush set into the carving itself.
