An emerald cut lab grown diamond in four claws on a band whose two halves pass each other at the shoulders instead of meeting, each carrying a short run of round accents that graduates smaller as it travels outward.

A bypass band does not close in the usual way. Each side of the shank runs past the other rather than joining head on, so where they meet at the shoulder one arm sits above and one below, leaving an open loop of metal on each side of the stone. It is an old idea, and the reason it keeps returning is that it removes the hard junction under the head. The ring appears to flow around the finger and up into the setting rather than stopping at it.

On the upper arm of each crossing, a short run of round diamonds is claw set and graduates smaller as it moves away from the centre stone, so the sparkle fades out rather than ending abruptly. There is no halo and no pave anywhere else. The rest of the band is plain polished metal, and above it the emerald cut sits in four plain claws with its long step facets completely unframed.

Band details

A bypass shank whose two halves pass one another at each shoulder, leaving an open loop on each side, and close into a plain rounded band at the back. The interior is smoothed and comfort rounded.

Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.
