An emerald cut lab grown diamond in corner claws, with a shoulder on each side that narrows to a waist immediately beside the stone and then fans outward into a small milgrain edged plate carrying diamonds. Beyond the fan the band runs on as fine polished wire, interrupted once by a single set accent before it disappears round the finger.

The pinch is the oldest trick in this design and the one that does the most work. Where the shank meets the setting, the metal is deliberately drawn narrower than anywhere else on the ring. That is the exact point at which the eye measures the width of the centre stone, because it is where the two shapes touch, and against a narrower neighbour any object reads as wider. Take the pinch out and set the same diamond on a shank of even width and the stone loses perhaps a tenth of its apparent size, purely from the comparison. The fan beyond the waist then recovers the width the pinch gave away, so the shoulder does not look starved, and the single spaced accent further along keeps the eye travelling down the band rather than stopping at the fan. Band details

The shank narrows to a waist at the setting, fans into the shouldered plate, then continues as a fine polished wire. The lower half is left entirely plain, which keeps the ring comfortable and leaves clean metal for resizing.

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is shown in the photographs, which is the usual choice for a step cut because a neutral metal adds no colour to the open table.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What does the pinched shoulder do
It narrows the metal at the exact point where the eye compares band to stone, so the centre diamond reads wider than it would on a shank of even width.

Does pinching weaken the shank
Not as built here. The waist is short and we thicken the metal through its depth to compensate, so the cross section stays sound even though the visible width narrows.

What is milgrain
A row of tiny beads worked along an edge by hand. It outlines the fan and hides the small marks a raised edge collects first.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The lower half of the shank is plain, so resizing is done in clean metal.

How long does the ring take to make
Each ring is made to order. The milgrain is applied by hand, so production usually takes twelve to sixteen working days before dispatch.
