An emerald cut lab grown diamond held in four claws above a hidden halo, carried on cathedral shoulders and a plain polished band. From directly above this looks like the most restrained ring we make, a single clean rectangle on a bare shank with nothing else on it. Turn it to the side and a rectangular collar of small diamonds appears beneath the stone, set around the underside of the girdle where the eye does not reach from the top. That is the whole idea of a hidden halo. It gives the profile view detail and light without adding a single visible stone to the face of the ring, so the emerald cut keeps the severe uninterrupted outline that makes it worth choosing in the first place. Because the only decoration sits in profile, the metal colour decides how much the hidden halo announces itself. In yellow or rose gold the collar reads as a bright band of contrast against warm metal, in white gold it merges with the centre stone and simply makes it look larger. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and protects the corners of an emerald cut better over time.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small diamonds set around the underside of the centre stone, below the girdle. You cannot see it looking down at the ring, only from the side. Here it is shaped as a rectangle so it follows the outline of the emerald cut rather than sitting as a circle beneath it.

Why choose a hidden halo on an emerald cut?
An emerald cut is chosen for its clean unbroken outline, and a visible halo would break exactly that. A hidden halo adds light and profile interest while leaving the face of the ring completely uninterrupted.

What is a cathedral setting?
Shoulders that arch upward from the band to meet the head, like the vaulted arches of a cathedral. They add height and side profile while letting the stone sit securely.

Why does an emerald cut show clarity so clearly?
Its long open step facets act like windows into the stone rather than scattering light. That is why we set only VVS2 in this shape, where inclusions would be visible in a lower grade.

Is this easy to pair with a wedding band?
Yes. The shank is plain and straight where a band meets it, with no pave to align, though the cathedral arch means a flat band sits alongside rather than flush under the head.
