A halo of round brilliants around the edge adds exactly the scintillation the step cut does not produce, without touching the clean geometry of the centre stone itself. On a halo design the metal between the halo stones and the centre is visible, so the colour choice affects how unified the head looks. White gold blends halo and centre into one bright block. Yellow and rose gold draw a warm outline around the emerald cut, which emphasises its rectangular shape. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds fine halo settings more securely.

Why put a halo on an emerald cut?
A step cut produces wide calm flashes rather than fine sparkle. A halo of round brilliants adds that sparkle around the edge while leaving the centre stone geometry untouched, so you get both effects in one ring.

Does a halo make the stone look bigger?
Yes, significantly. The halo extends the outline of the head, so the ring reads as a much larger stone from a normal viewing distance. It is the most cost effective way to increase visual size.

Why does clarity matter more in an emerald cut?
The large open table and few facets mean there is nowhere for an inclusion to hide. We set these at VVS2 so nothing is visible to the naked eye.

Do halo stones fall out easily?
They are bead set into seats cut in the metal, which is secure and standard in fine jewellery. We recommend a check once a year, which we do free of charge for the life of the ring.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
