It describes the light pattern inside certain radiant and cushion cuts, where the facets break light into many small irregular shards rather than a few large flashes. It looks like sunlight on shaved ice and is one of the most distinctive effects in diamond cutting.

What is an elongated radiant?
It is a radiant cut with a stretched length to width ratio, so the outline is a long rectangle rather than a near square. It covers more finger for the weight and makes the hand look longer.
