Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity is the diamond in this ring? The radiant cut center stone is E color and VVS2 clarity. E is in the colorless range, and VVS2 means inclusions are very difficult to see even under ten times magnification, so the stone is completely eye clean.

What does crushed ice mean? It describes the interior faceting. A crushed ice stone has many small facets that break light into fine glittering points, like light on shattered ice. The alternative is a chunky facet pattern that gives fewer, larger flashes. Crushed ice hides inclusions well and sparkles busily rather than boldly.

What is the difference between a radiant and an emerald cut? They share the same rectangular outline with trimmed corners, but the faceting is opposite. An emerald cut is a step cut with long open facets and broad flashes. A radiant is brilliant faceted, so it sparkles far more actively while keeping the same silhouette.

Why are radiant cut corners trimmed? The corners of a rectangular stone are its most fragile points. Trimming them removes the sharp tips, which makes the stone far more resistant to chipping and gives the setting a flat edge to grip.
