Almost every marquise ring ever made runs the stone north to south, along the finger, because that is what a pointed shape naturally wants to do and because it lengthens the hand. Turned east to west the same diamond stops being an arrow and becomes a bar of light laid across the finger. It reads as wide rather than long, it sits lower and flatter against the hand, and it is far less likely to snag because there is no point extending toward the knuckle. It is the same stone, the same weight, and a completely different ring.

Band details

The shank is fine, plain and evenly rounded with a mirror polish. It runs unbroken from one side of the head to the other and sits close against the finger. Because nothing is set into it, the band can be resized easily, engraved inside and paired with any wedding band later.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold is shown here and the warm shank makes the sideways stone read clearly as a separate bright element. Rose gold gives a softer version of the same contrast. White gold and sterling silver make the metal disappear so all you see is the horizontal line of the diamond.
